COVID-19 Face Coverings - REQUIRED

May 1, 2020

Re: COVID-19 Face Coverings - REQUIRED

Dear Residents:

face covering.png

I know it has become terribly monotonous and mundane being sheltered in place. To break the cycle, we all like to get out for a little fresh air, walk the property, sit on a bench, and complete some of our chores like shopping and laundry. Without sounding like the “social distancing police”, I need to remind you that masks should be worn at all times. This includes inside the building’s common areas, laundry rooms, as well as outside on the grounds of the property. This is in compliance with Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.17 that requires that any individual over the age of two cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in in a public space and unable to maintain social distancing. We therefore require that all residents and their guest observe this ORDER when outside your apartments for any reason. This is for your own safety, as well as your fellow residents and staff.

Our elevators are 5 feet by 3 feet, it is impossible to social distance in them. So please be considerate and do not enter the elevator if someone else is in it. Waiting a couple of minutes for it to come back can go a long way in keeping yourself and others healthy and safe.

Our staff will continue to work diligently to sanitize all high-contact areas such as the mailboxes, elevator panels and doorknobs. The entire staff will continue to wear masks and gloves, and practice social distancing for their own safety and yours.

We will continue to monitor this situation and to follow guidance from public health officials at the Local, State and Federal levels in making any changes or notifications as appropriate. Stay Safe.

Sincerely,
Douglas Elliman Property Management a/a/f

COVID-19 Updates

April 2, 2020

Coronavirus-CDC.jpg

Dear Residents:

Unfortunately, as the COVID-19 cases consumes our city, we must face the reality that Boulevard Garden’s residents are not immune to this virus.  Therefore, I’m sure we have had and will continue to have residents quarantined from travelling from hotspots, residents who have come in contact with someone with the virus, residents who are sick and have COVID-19 symptoms that have not been tested, and residents who are recovering from the virus.  We realize this is a very hard time for anyone in any of these categories.  We also realize that you are entitled to your privacy.  However, to protect the community as a whole, both sick and healthy residents, we ask that the following procedures are adhered to:

1.     Quarantined persons must stay in his or her apartment, following recommendations of health authorities regarding limiting use of rooms, sanitizing, wearing gloves, masks, etc. for the required self-isolation period (usually 14 day per CDC guidelines as of 3/17/2020).

2.     Quarantined person must restrict activities outside their apartment except for situations requiring medical care.  Use of common areas and laundry rooms is strictly prohibited.  In the event that the quarantined person must leave the building for a medical appointment, the quarantined person and any individual accompanying them will be required to wear a mask and gloves upon entering and exiting the building.

3.     Individuals who do not have an essential need to be in the apartment should be discouraged from visiting.  For any individual that does visit, the same procedures as noted above will be required for entry and exit into the building.

4.     Trash bags will be provided by Management.  Garbage and recycling is to be held in the apartment and the resident may call the Management Office for pickup.  Packages and mail can be pickup by a caregiver or you may contact the Management Office or your Building Captain for assistance.

We are going through uncharted territory, and there are not many prior laws and procedure that can advise us on how to handle this situation as far as quarantined individuals are concerned.  We are a community and we would like to help where it is possible, while at the same time protect our residents and stop the spread of this virus.  Please remember to comply with all the current federal, state, and local directions, as well as our House Rules and guidelines.  Stay home and keep safe.

Sincerely,

Douglas Elliman Property Management a/a/f

Become a Volunteer Building Captain

March 17, 2020

Dear Residents:

As a community one of our greatest assets is our residents.  Over the last couple of days we have received calls, texts, and emails from residents who are willing to help others who may need help in this time of crisis.  Management and Maintenance are always here to help.  However, with the influx of volunteers it may be easier and more personable using resident volunteers.

To sustain social distancing we are discouraging door to door communications.   We will be establishing captains for each building and sending out their contact information.  If you need help with shopping, prescription pickups etc. you may contact whoever you are more comfortable with, the captain of your building or the management office.

Our lives have been interrupted and turned upside down.  It is very warming to know that we have such caring residents.  However, health and safety must be kept at the forefront of all things that we do. If you are interested in becoming a captain,  please contact the Management Office or Bonnie Mutignani ASAP at 718-728-1700 or bonnie.mutignani@ellimanpm.com.

Keep safe,

Management and the Community of Boulevard Gardens

BGOC Board of Directors COVID-19 Update

March 16, 2020

Dear Neighbors,

As we are sure many Boulevard Gardens residents have done, we have been monitoring, with growing alarm, the spread of COVID-19.  Already, in the week since our COVID-19-focused message as part of this month’s Special Edition was sent to the printers and which was delivered to residents this past weekend, there have been significant developments locally and around the world.  During this time, the Board of Directors has been working closely with Management to exercise best practices in maintaining a healthy environment at Boulevard Gardens.  Over the last few days, the frequency of sanitizing of common areas being executed under Department of Health Guidelines has been increased with a portion of the staff being dedicated to this purpose, and visits to the Management Office have been restricted.

We recognize that with an increasing daytime population of residents due to schools having closed and many now working from home, the playground has been a welcome escape, especially with the recent pleasant weather.  The frequency of the sanitizing of the playground was increased earlier this week to multiple times a day; nevertheless, the prospect of its closure has been an ongoing active discussion between Board and Management.  Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close both the playground and the Rainy Day Room effective Monday, March 16th. Doing so will free up our staff to focus on increased sanitizing of other essential high-contact areas such as elevator buttons, handrails, compactor chute doors, doorknobs, and laundry rooms.  Additionally, while Management was extraordinarily proactive in stocking sanitizing agents weeks ago, many will likely have seen, first-hand, that such supplies are now scarce.  We feel that it is important that while our suppliers work at fulfilling orders to replenish our stock, we utilize the stock we have in hand efficiently.

We would like to take this time to remind our neighbors to help us reduce the risk of arrival, and spread, of COVID-19 in our community.  We ask that the guidance of public health officials and the CDC be followed to stay healthy:

  • If a resident suspects that they have COVID-19, or have come into contact with someone that has tested positive, we ask you follow CDC guidelines and to self-quarantine.  Please call your healthcare provider and the NYC Department of Health for further guidance, and advise Management.

  • If you have recently travelled from a CDC-designated Level 3 country, you are required under CDC guidelines to self-quarantine for 14 days.

  • We ask that residents exercise social distancing and not congregate in the laundry rooms and other common areas when possible.

If you know someone in our community who is elderly or has special needs, we ask that you check in on them regularly or if you yourself are in need of any assistance, please contact Management.  It is important that we all partner together during this uncertain time to support our Boulevard Gardens Community.

Please refer to some of the recent communications for further information and details, including Management’s 3/13 letter, Douglas Elliman’s 3/3 and 3/13 letters, and the Board’s message as part of this month’s Special Edition.  If you have not yet done so, please take the time to read through some of the resources provided by the CDC and governmental agencies for additional guidance on preparation and prevention:

CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

NYS: https://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/coronavirus/

NYC: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/coronavirus.page

We will continue to closely monitor this quickly developing situation and to follow guidance from public health officials at the Local, State, and Federal levels in making any further changes and notifications as appropriate.

Wishing all the very best,

Your Boulevard Gardens Board of Directors

Smoking is also prohibited within 25 feet of all entranceways and 25 feet from the Children’s Playground and Rainy Day Room.
